Couples Counseling
I have completed the Gottman Institute Level II Clinical Couple's Training, a research-informed couple's counseling approach and will primarily utilize this model for supporting work with couples.
The Gottman method and interventions aim to identify beneficial target areas and offer tools to support positive change in these areas. Intervention areas may target increasing relationship satisfaction, shared understanding, growing intimacy, and managing conflict effectively.
I am a LGBTQ+ affirming counselor and welcome the opportunity to support a diverse variety of couples.
Supervision toward Licensure
I view the practice of counseling as an ongoing area for growth and development and have enjoyed providing supervision for licensed and non-licensed counselors. As an approved clinical supervisor in Washington State, I am able to provide supervision support for counselors working toward LMHC licensure. Areas I may not be able to support in order to ensure safety and best outcomes:
- Eating disorders: if you share you are experiencing significant disordered eating during the course of treatment, we will discuss options for referral to an expert in this area
- Substance addiction: while I am able to offer complementary support for those working with an addiction specialist, I am unable to support addiction recovery as a primary area
- Active suicidality and significant/active self-harm: my practice is not structured to provide optimal support or crisis intervention when high risk is present
- Court mandated, involuntary counseling, or support or evaluation related to legal issues
